  1. Soused bears only a distant resemblance to Walker’s last release, Bish Bosch from , notably in the vaguely menacing swing-jazz rhythms and blade-sharpening effects that open Fetish. Couched in tolling bells and sinister alien drones, Herod hums and clangs like a haunted spaceship while Walker twists familiar lines from The Sound Of.
  2. SOUSED It’s all in the name: “Soused.” Plunged. Immersed. Soaked, in thunder and dark images. Obsessions and digressions, twisting themselves into knots. Two great musical rivers—Scott Walker and Sunn O)))—finally made one dark record together. Don’t think you’ll have an easy listen with “Soused” (4AD, ). This one is difficult.
  3. Mar 25,  · Scott Walker, the singer, songwriter and producer who rose to fame as part of The Walker Brothers, has died aged 76, his record label, 4AD, has confirmed.

Nothing here is surprising, from the nightmare clarion calls on “Herod ” to the jerky transitions from quiet menace to thumping noise on “Fetish,” but the heavy foundation laid by the band intensifies the ominous.
  5. As I was driving home from an errand, not errant, run, WPRB played a track from Soused, Walker’s release with Sunn O))) which aslo happens to be one of my favorite albums. If you know the music of Sunn O))), then I don’t have to say heavy. If you don’t know the music of Sunn O.
  6. When Sunn O))) first approached Scott Walker about appearing on their album Monoliths & Dimensions, they didn?t know what it would actually lead to. Four years on, Scott returned with something even more enticing, collaborating on Soused, a /5(74).
  7. With the release of Soused, erstwhile pop singer Scott Walker continues on more or less album, it is clearly Walker’s show and Sunn O))) seem to respect this, providing minimalist, droning.
  8. Scott Walker (January 9, – March 22, ) was an American-born singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and composer who got his start in pop music in the ‘60s as one third.
