  1. Early Bernstein, Rosalind Russell sings, what could be better? This wonderful classic '50's musical is based on the book "My Sister Eileen," one of the funniest books to come along -- even now. I consider myself fortunate to have seen the original cast of WT, have cherished the album. The music is a delight. Dated? Aren't we all?/5(7).
  2. The first cast album of WONDERFUL TOWN sounds even better than ever in Decca's latest remastering. The sound is still somewhat flat (as are all Decca albums from the 40s/50s) but the Decca engineers have worked wonders on the 50 year old tapes making them sound as good as possible. Rosalind Russell was a perfect choice to play the acerbic Ruth/5(14).

  5. Rosalind Russell plays Ruth, a role she created in the movie version of the play. The other sister, Eileen, is played by Edie Adams, who went on to have a successful career on the stage, screen, and TV. This CD is part of Decca's Broadway musical original-cast reissue series using bit digital technology resulting in a sparkling sound.
